Insomnia : Sleep doesn’t disappear, it waits for the body to feel safe

Let me start with something curious.
Do animals have insomnia? LOL no right...
They don’t lie awake replaying conversations, they do not feel exhausted but unable to sleep and definingly don't scroll at midnight.
And coming to us humans that's what we do everynight.
So here’s the question for you all...If sleep were purely mental, why would the body be tired but the mind still alert?
Because, sleep doesn’t begin in the mind. It begins in the body.
In classical Ayurveda, sleep (Nidra) arrives when the body feels safe, noruished, cozy and complete for the day.
Animals sleep easily because their bodies follow rhythm.
Humans, however override rhythm.
We eat late. We work late.
Our nervous system is stimulated until the last moment we try to fall sleep and then expect body to suddenly shut down on command.
But, unfortunately the body doesn’t work that way.
That’s insomnia. Not anxiety. Not overthinking. Not a weak mind.
Body that never received the signal: “You’re done for the day.”
So what is the solution here... prepare for sleep hours before bedtime.
Starts with some micro changes...

I am not asking to stop the coffee all together but stop it before 2PM if not at least by 3PM.
Eat easily digestible lite meals, say no to processed food. The sign you had a good meal you should feel energetic and pleasant after a meal.
Do hip opening yoga which releases emotional trauma from body morning or evening.
Or any form of exercise will do. If its too hard a walk would do as well.
Breathing exercises simple anuloma viloma ( alternate nostril breathing) 2-5 mins to begin with.
Stop being on phone 2 hours before sleep. If possible time limit the exposure to electronics all day.
Read something relaxing or focus on spending time with kids or spend at least few mins on your hobby which doesn't involve electronics.
These changes tell body... “You can stand down now.”
And when the body powers down…sleep arrives on its own.
Because sleep is not something we do. It’s something the body allows.
Give it a week to see the changes. Micro changes matter they show sustained results.
Make your body resistant to stress by treating with love and respect.
